Abstract

This research is intented to explore  the impact of the debate metod on students’ courage to express opinions in Civics (PPKn) teaching processes in elementary education that employ a qualitatif research methd with library research, this study reviews various previous findings from recent years to understand how debate-based learning contributes to student development. The analysis reveals that the debate method effectivelynenbances students’ speaking confidence, critical thinking skills, and ability to present logical, structured, and ethical arguments. Through debate activities, students learn to communicate ideas clearly, listen actively, respect different perspectives, and collaborate within their teams, which helps foster democratic attitudes. Moreover, this method creates an interactive, engaging, and participatory learning atmosphere where students  expected to engage actively in discussions and classroom decision-making processes. The findings emphasize that the debate method is a powerful and effective learning strategy to improve communication skills, build stronger self-confidence, and reinforce moral, social, and civic values aligned with Pancasila principles. Therefore, implementing debate-based learning in Civics education helps shape critical, responsible, and confident young citizens who are prepared to participate positively in society.

Abstrak

Penelitian ini berfokus pada analisis pengaruh penggunaan metode debat terhadap keberanian siswa dalam mengemukakan pendapat pada pembelajaran Pendidikan Pancasila dan Kewarganegaraan (PPKn) di sekolah dasar. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi pustaka (library research) melalui penelaahan berbagai hasil penelitian terdahulu. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa metode debat efektif dalam meningkatkan keberanian siswa berbicara di depan umum, melatih kemampuan berpikir kritis, serta menumbuhkan kepercayaan diri dalam menyampaikan argumentasi. Melalui kegiatan debat, siswa dilatih untuk mengemukakan pendapat secara logis, sistematis, dan etis, sekaligus belajar menghargai perbedaan pandangan, bekerja sama dalam kelompok, serta mengembangkan sikap demokratis. Selain itu, metode debat mewujudkan lingkungan pembelajaran yang lebih interaktif, partisipatif, dan menyenangkan, sehingga siswa dapat terlibat aktif dalam proses pembelajaran. Penelitian ini menegaskan bahwa penerapan metode debat dapat menjadi teknik pengajaran yang efektif guna meningkatkan keterampilan komunikasi, membangun karakter percaya diri, serta menanamkan nilai-nilai moral dan sosial berlandaskan prinsip Pancasila
