Menebar Kasih Sayang untuk Semua: Konsep Toleransi Beragama dalam Perspektif Al-Qur'an dan Hadis

The purpose of this article is to elaborate on the concept of religious tolerance based on the verses of the Qur'an and Hadith, as well as to explain its application in social life. The problem addressed is the persistent misunderstanding among some Muslims regarding the limits of religious tolerance, which sometimes leads to syncretism or excessive exclusivism. The method employed is a qualitative library research using a thematic exegesis (maudhu'i) approach and an analysis of prophetic traditions (hadith) related to tolerance. The results show that religious tolerance from the Qur'an and Hadith perspective does not mean validating other beliefs, but rather respecting the right of others to hold their faith without coercion, and acting kindly in social matters unrelated to creed. Key pieces of evidence, such as Surah Al-Kafirun verses 1-6, Surah Al-Baqarah verse 256, and the hadith concerning the Charter of Medina, affirm the principle of "lakum dinukum waliyadin" (to you your religion, to me mine). In conclusion, religious tolerance as taught by Islam is a manifestation of universal compassion while preserving the core of Muslim faith.
Abstrak
Tujuan penulisan artikel ini adalah untuk menguraikan konsep toleransi beragama berdasarkan dalil-dalil Al-Qur'an dan Hadis serta menjelaskan penerapannya dalam kehidupan bermasyarakat. Masalah yang diangkat adalah masih adanya kesalahpahaman di kalangan sebagian umat Islam tentang batasan toleransi beragama, yang kadang mengarah pada sinkretisme atau sikap eksklusif berlebihan. Metode yang digunakan adalah kajian pustaka kualitatif dengan pendekatan tafsir tematik (maudhu’i) dan analisis hadis-hadis terkait toleransi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa toleransi beragama dalam perspektif Al-Qur'an dan Hadis bukan berarti membenarkan semua keyakinan lain, melainkan menghormati hak beragama dan berkeyakinan orang lain tanpa paksaan, serta berbuat baik dalam hal-hal sosial yang tidak berkaitan dengan akidah. Dalil utama seperti QS. Al-Kafirun ayat 1-6, QS. Al-Baqarah ayat 256, dan hadis tentang piagam Madinah menegaskan prinsip "lakum dinukum waliyadin" (bagimu agamamu, bagiku agamaku). Kesimpulannya, toleransi beragama yang diajarkan Islam adalah wujud kasih sayang universal yang tetap menjaga identitas keimanan umat Muslim
