Abstract

achievements has contributed to the weakening of spiritual values in education, particularly in Islamic Religious Education (PAI). Competition is often understood merely as an effort to outperform others, rather than as a means of self-improvement in moral and spiritual dimensions. This study aims to reconstruct the meaning of competition in goodness based on the perspectives of the Qur’an and Hadith and to analyze its relevance in Islamic Religious Education learning. This research employs a qualitative approach with a literature review method, analyzing Qur’anic verses, Hadith, and relevant academic literature using a thematic (maudhu’i) approach. The findings reveal that competition in goodness (fastabiqul khairat) is not merely about superiority but about striving to perform righteous deeds sincerely for the sake of Allah SWT. The core values include sincerity, cooperation, responsibility, discipline, and moral integrity. Furthermore, competition in Islam promotes collaboration and mutual growth rather than individual rivalry. The implication of this study highlights that the concept of competition in goodness is highly relevant in Islamic Religious Education as a strategy to develop students’ character, fostering individuals who are spiritually oriented, collaborative, and morally grounded in facing modern challenges.
